Not many things compare to the feeling of sliding down a pristine snow covered slope on a beautiful sunny day. Nowhere will you find the same feeling. Yup, we are addicted to the feeling. We do of course want everyone to return safely after a day on the slopes. So to that end, we think it's important to provide you with the following three excellent tips and tricks for ski and snowboarding so every outing is only fun and safe.
We always recommend using proven technology to enhance or add to the margin of safety. This is true for both skiing and snowboarding. Using ski brakes is a good option for advanced ski safety. A ski brake is a device that attaches to your ski binding, and its purpose is to stop the ski in the event your binding releases. Contrast those to the ski safety strap which should be used in those situations where weight is a critical issue. The safety strap is more appropriate for situations where you could permanently lose the ski. If you choose to use a ski brake, make sure that it fits the width of your ski correctly. There are unique challenges and dangers to prepare for with back country skiing. Many people are switching to rechargeable AA or AAA batteries to avoid finding themselves in a situation without batteries. Also, more and more electronics is becoming smaller and making use of Triple A batteries. You can get a battery convert that allows you to up your AAA to AA size. It's much like an adapter that will make it possible to charge both sizes. Of course you'll use it with your automobile for charging, but it is most handy to have if you're stuck in a remote location.
Learn to control your turns. Easier said than done is the ceasing of wedging during turns. Once you've learned this skill you will experience better control. Try using one leg to stop wedging. All you have to do is shift the bulk of your weight to one side or the other. then slowly lighten up and tip your other side. You will have better control when you've learned this.
Like a lot of other sports, you can thwart several dilemmas by just having some tolerance. Provide yourself with a good amount of time to learn the vital strategies and be gradual when you begin. You have plenty of time to get better.
